Kara is an educational entrepreneur and the Founder and Executive Director of FarmTeach, an initiative that supports wildfire-impacted youth through regenerative farm–based fellowships that strengthen mental health, academic success, and leadership development. She previously served in charter school leadership at The Cottonwood School, helping guide rapid organizational growth and build student-centered instructional systems. Kara’s work is shaped by living on a regenerative farm, where tending the ecotones—the vibrant margins where biodiversity and resilience flourish— informs her commitment to supporting young people who navigate the cultural and social margins of our communities. She is an Ed.M. in Education Leadership candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (’26) and holds a B.A. in Psychology from Simpson University and an administrative services credential earned during her tenure in charter school leadership. Kara is also a candidate for ordination in the United Methodist Church and is committed to creating inclusive, pluralistic spaces where young adults can cultivate belonging, identity, and justice-rooted leadership.
